My week in Montréal

I lived 8 months in Montréal before I moved to San Francisco. And I never went back there until last week.

After these last couple  months of intense work, I really needed some vacation. So I went to visit my friends and cousin there. They all came to visit in San Francisco so it was my turn to go. It felt so good to see Montréal and my friends that I missed so much. We laughed a lot remembering old times.

And not that I am complaining to not have real seasons in San Francisco, it was really nice to have a real autumn, and a canadian one!

Strolling around the streets entirely covered by orange, red and brown leaves, taking photos of the houses decorated with pumpkins and other halloween decorations, getting cozy around a hot chocolate with my cousin and good friend Margaux at Fuchsia, hiking to Mont-Royal with a group of friends, devouring fabulous homemade twix at Olive & Gourmando, spending a night in a cute little wood house lost in the middle of the canadian forest (Sucrerie de la montagne), feeding the deers at Park Omega, eating a good poutine from L’anecdote at my friend Bart’s….so many good things in a week! I am now ready to get back to work, my head full of illustration ideas inspired by this very good trip!

Oh Happy Day!

A few months ago, I met with Jordan Ferney from the well-known party and lifestyle blog Oh Happy Day. We are both admiring each other’s work. I went to visit her studio and she came to mine. She asked me if I would like to work with her on a few paper DIY projects. Of course I couldn’t refuse the fun opportunity! So last week we worked on a paper party necklace and a moon piñata.


This is the result of a few hours of crafting, styling and shooting. That was a really fun experience. And a challenge for me to create in such a short time!

Blog Inc. party at West Elm

Last thursday was Joy Cho’s book party at West Elm. She showed the trailer and there was some little props I made for display.

I enjoyed the delicious mini marshmallow chocolate cookie sandwiches! A lot!

Joy also asked me to create a backdrop for a smilebooth. I made a giant version of the paper pie truck i did for the book trailer, with paper pies, sunglasses, speach bubbles…I think people had a lot of fun with it! Including me and Anais!!!

It was also very nice to see Meg mateo Ilasco who I worked with last year on Craft Inc. book trailer and the winter issue of Anthology magazine.

Blog Inc. Trailer


Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of posts lately, I’ve been really busy working on amazing projects for new clients. Here is one I just wrapped up this week so I can finally share it with you. This is the trailer I did for the book Blog Inc. written by the well known blogger Joy Cho from Oh Joy! This was a really fun project, I enjoyed making all the details in the decors. Joy and I really share the same passion for design, colors and food so it was awesome to work with her. We met a couple month ago in LA at her house (so nicely decorated), I’ve been following her blog for a few years so when she offered me this opportunity to work on her trailer I couldn’t refuse..

Last week at the studio!


•Working like crazy making some props for a fashion photoshoot!

•A little piece of fluorescent yellow paper sticked on Maggie’s nose…it doesn’t seem to bother her.

•Welcoming my new intern:  Say hello to Anais! She couldn’t arrive at a better time, I so needed help to make all those props! She brought me some french reading!!!

• Learned on Refinery 29 that Topshop is finally coming to San Francisco this monday! Yeah! So excited!

4 years in America!

Time flies! I remember when I moved to San Francisco in september 2008, my dream was finally becoming true, I was so moved and excited to be here!

This all started when I was 10 years old! My parents, brother and sister and I did a one month and half road trip with to California. From San Francisco to San Diego.

I remember how hot it was!Reorganizing the trunk again and again because of all the shopping! Looking at my position I was probably complaining to my dad because he wanted to sort things and probably throw some of the stuff away, haha.

This was the best trip of my life, I remember this like it was yesterday. We liked it so much that the next year they brought us to the East Coast and the year after that to Louisiana and Florida! Since then, it’s been my dream to live in the US. I thank my parents so much for sharing with us their love for travel. They really taught us to be curious and go for what we want.

My second dream came true here: becoming an illustrator! You don’t know how many publishers and magazines I sent my portfolio to in France after graduating in graphic design, who never bothered writing me back! I was afraid that I was never going to be an illustrator…that no one will one day give me a chance.

One day, after a year between Paris and Montreal, I had this opportunity to come for 3 months in San Francisco and I fell in love again with the city. So I decided to do everything in my power to stay and I found an internship in a design agency. A year and half later I had my own design/illustration studio.

It took a lot of work, one blog post to show my illustration style in the US, a lot of visas paperwork (but so worth it) and great support from my family and friends to be where I am today. I am so thankful for this country for GIVING ME THIS CHANCE to show what I was capable of. After 2 years working as an independent, I can list in my clients Warner Bros. records, Chronicle Books, Anthology Magazine, Target, The SF Guardian… and I hope many more in the future. Every project has been a really great collaboration so far and I can’t wait to see what will come next!

This is me today (18 years later), illustrator, sitting in my working space in San Francisco (published in The San Francisco Guardian).

So this excitement is still here today! There is so much happening here, so many opportunities, inspiring people to meet. Every day when I walk around the city I feel so lucky to live in one of the most awesome and beautiful city in the world. Thank you for all the inspiration San Francisco!

Working space

I started to work on a new big project this week. Every time I wrap up a client project and start a new one I like to clean and rearranged my studio to start fresh with new inspirations! Depending on the client style and the type of project I put myself in a special kind of mood.


So this is what my studio looks like right now, I opted for a fresh, fun and colorful look. After a few years working with papers, I accumulated so many paper objects/scenes. Sometimes I give the orignial piece to the client, sometimes I throw them away if they’re not worth keeping them. If I feel like I could reuse some of the pieces I store them in boxes that I store in a closet. This closet is kind of full right now, so I started to hang stuff on my walls!

I also like to meet designers to get inspired and talk about some potential collaboration. It is very important when you work from home and alone to get out sometimes and see other people. A couple weeks ago I met Jordan Ferney from Oh Happy Day and last week I met with Jessica Hische. Both very nice and talented designers I admire. I was lucky to visit their working space. It’s always interesting to see artist’s working environment. We all have different ways to work. Some artist will like minimalist space, white walls, some like me will prefer a space full of objects and colors.

Some will like to listen to music, other will prefer working in silent. For my part, I like to have a movie or TV show in the background, believe it or not it help me focus on my illustrations and it covers small noises from the street who could distract me.
